A stereo vision system is provided to accurately detect a pattern of an object and correctly distinguish objects from each other by removing noise which exists in a virtual image formed at a central place between two cameras. A camera system includes a left camera(12) and a right camera(10). A stereo matching processing part(14) extracts a binocular parallax from left and right images provided from the camera system. A central camera(11) is disposed at a central portion between the left camera and the right camera. The central camera provides a reference image by which noise of the binocular parallax can be removed. An image processing part(16) receives the output of the stereo matching processing part and an output of the central camera, and performs image processing. An image buffer(15) delays the output of the central camera so that the output of the central camera is matched with the output of the stereo matching processing part.
