Provided is a coating composition useful for vehicle interior materials such as car seats, car mats, and ceiling members, while maintaining physical properties comparable to coating compositions comprising conventional halogenated flame retardants. The coating composition is prepared by adding 1-300 parts by weight of one or at least two non-halogen flame retardant in which phosphorus and nitrogen-containing non-halogen flame retardant particles are surface coated with hydrophobic inorganic oxide fine particles, to 100 parts by weight of solids of a synthetic resin emulsion. Preferably, the synthetic resin emulsion is selected from the group consisting of (meth)acrylic acid ester resin-based emulsions, styrene/acrylic acid ester copolymer-based emulsions, urethane resin-based emulsions, ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer-based emulsions and rubber-based emulsions.
