PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely clean a liquid developer adhered on an elastic development roller. SOLUTION: A developing device for liquid development having a compression member (22) on the elastic development roller (20) developing latent images formed on an image carrier (10) keeps a cleaning roller (25) arranged at the downstream side of a rotation direction of the development roller to a development nip part and is provided with an oil application member (27) for applying oil in contact with the cleaning roller.
