REAR OPENING/CLOSING DEVICE FOR AUTOMOBILE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rear opening/closing device for an automobile capable of preventing the damage of a covering member for covering an opening and the bite-in of a latch while preventing contact sound when a push-up lever and the latch abut on each other.

SOLUTION: The rear opening/closing device for the automobile comprises a metallic latch unit 31 provided near the lower end of a rear gate 1; a metallic striker 32 provided in a trim 21 at the lower edge of a rear opening of an automobile body 2 and engaged with the latch unit 31; and the push-up lever 33 provided to energize the latch unit 31 in a direction to be pushed upward. The tip of the push-up lever 33 is provided with a non-metallic head member 53 swinging integrally with the push-up lever 33 and abutting on the latch unit 31 in the closed state of the rear gate 1 while covering the opening 22 in the open state of the rear gate 1.
