DETECTION METHOD OF SEGREGATION IN MACRO-TEXTURE OF ROLL FOR ROLLING STEEL MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection method of segregation in the macro-texture of a roll for rolling a steel material capable of rapidly and simply detecting the degree and position of the segregation present in the macro-texture of the roll before delivery. SOLUTION: The end surface or whole surface of the body part of the roll for rolling the steel material is scanned by the sensor of an eddy current flaw detector and the position and size of the layer rich in eutectic carbide in the macro-texture of the roll on the basis of the waveform of the obtained electric signal. Especially, this detection method is effective for determinating the use destination of the roll for rolling the steel material manufactured by centrifugal casting. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
