An image forming device and a controlling method thereof are provided to assign priority to a communication request which is to be firstly processed from external device wanting to use a communication mode including restriction. A network interface(210) receives the communication request from the external devices through the network. A memory(220) sets and stores a priority communication mode among the communication modes with the external devices. A controller(230) preferentially responds to the communication request corresponding to the priority communication mode. An OPE(Operation Panel Equipment)(240) displays a list and communication mode information of the external devices, and receives the priority communication mode by using the list and the communication mode information. The controller stores the communication request to the memory if a task is performed, and promptly responds to the communication request if a process for the communication request is enabled.
