A television receiver and a method for outputting a broadcasting program of a channel are provided to simultaneously output a broadcasting program of a main channel and broadcasting programs of sub-channels in the process of setting channels. A television receiver outputs video signals of broadcasting programs loaded in a plurality of channels received through a tuner(101) to a main picture and a sub-picture of a screen(102) and outputs audio signals of the broadcasting programs through a speaker(103). The television receiver includes the tuner, a storage unit(109), a controller(110), and a video processor(105). The tuner receives broadcasting programs of channels transmitted from a broadcasting station and respectively outputs analog video signals and audio signals of the broadcasting programs to the screen and the speaker. The storage unit stores information of a memorized channel. The controller controls automatic channel setting and manual channel setting, stores a channel memorized in the channel setting process in the storage unit, and outputs the video signal of the broadcasting program loaded in the memorized channel stored in the storage unit to the sub-picture. The video processor processes an image received through a main channel among the channels received through the tuner into the main picture and outputs the main picture to the screen. The video processor processes an image received through at least one sub-channel into the sub-picture and outputs the sub-picture to the screen. |
