An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to effectively radiate heat generated from a light generating unit, by opening lateral portions of a container and a top chassis so as to expose the light generating unit. A light generating unit(300) is disposed at one side portion of a light guiding plate(400). A container(200) contains the light guiding plate and the light generating unit, wherein a lateral portion of the container is opened to partially expose the light generating unit. An LCD panel(610) is disposed above the light guiding plate. A top chassis(700) fixes the edge of the LCD panel, wherein a portion of the top chassis is opened to partially expose the light generating unit.
