PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of conditioning air without deteriorating the comfort of an user even if a failure occurs in communication between control circuits. SOLUTION: The air conditioner 1 for the vehicle has a front air conditioning operation part 100 adjusting an air conditioning state in a front side air conditioning zone, and a rear air conditioning operation part 200 adjusting an air conditioning state in a rear side air conditioning zone. The air conditioner 1 for the vehicle has an air conditioning ECU4 having a front side setting panel 6 setting an air conditioning condition of at least the front air conditioning operation part 100, and a rear side setting panel 7 setting an air conditioning condition of the rear air conditioning operation part 200. The air conditioner 1 for the vehicle is also equipped with a rear side setting ECU5 sending the air conditioning condition, and making the air conditioning ECU4 control the rear air conditioning operation part 200. The air conditioning ECU4 determines whether communication with the rear side setting ECU5 is interrupted or not. In the case that the communication is interrupted, the rear air conditioning operation part 200 is controlled on the basis of a predetermined abnormal air conditioning condition.
