<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide image compressing equipment for compressing image data by desired compression rate, while suppressing the deterioration of image quality. <P>SOLUTION: The image compressing equipment 2 performs JPEG encoding processing in the inputted image data, while monitoring a quantization interval relative to the DC component of a conversion coefficient, changes-over the processing into image reducing processing when the quantization interval exceeds a threshold, and compresses the data amount of the inputted image data. The equipment 2 can compress the data amount of the inputted image data by performing changeover into the combination of the image reducing processing with the JPEG encoding processing, when the quantization interval exceeds the threshold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
