PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protector capable of carrying out effective protection irrespective of the user, capable of accurately controlling an attacker by using an irritant without constraint, and capable of securing safety with respect to the user. SOLUTION: A bifurcated pole is provided with a rod part 201 to be held by the user, a capture part 101 attached to a tip of the rod part for capturing the attacker, and a jetting part 204 built in the rod part and spraying out the irritant. The capture part 101 has a spray opening 104 spraying out the irritant, and the jetting part 204 sprays the irritant when thrust is applied to the capture part 101 in a direction of the rod part 201.
