PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing particles of a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound silver salt of new structure, and to provide a heat-developable photosensitive material excellent in direct storage stability and image storage stability using the particles. SOLUTION: The method for producing the nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound silver salt particles comprises the following process. The nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound and a water-soluble silver compound are mixed together to form particles followed by removing a byproduct salt formed at a temperature of 30°C or higher. The heat-developable photosensitive material is such that at least one surface of a substrate is borne with at least a photosensitive silver halide, a nonphotosensitive organosilver salt and a reducing agent, wherein the nonphotosensitive organosilver salt consists of the nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound silver salt particles produced by the method.
