<p>A cylinder freely rotatable about an axle is covered with at least one pair of interconnected flexible, swellable bodies which are filled with a liquid such as water. The amount of liquid is enough to fill one body and the tube connecting the two bodies. A valve system regulates water flow between the pair of bodies. A press roll also freely rotatable about an axle is located beneath the cylinder, leaving just enough space between the cylinder and roll for the wall of the body to be pressed against the cylinder, so that a watertight seal is created in the body. As the bottom body is compressed by the cylinder, the other body in the pair, which is located above the bottom body becomes filled with liquid, causing the cylinder to move.</p> |
