A plasma display panel is provided to drop a firing voltage by reducing the amount of current to be applied to an address electrode. A first and second substrates(1,3) are disposed opposite to each other. A plurality of barrier ribs(5) are arranged in a space between the first and second substrates in order to define discharge spaces. A phosphor layer is formed within each of the discharge spaces. A plurality of address electrodes(13) are formed along address lines of one direction on the second substrate. A second dielectric layer(15) is formed to cover the address electrodes on the second substrate. A plurality of pairs of display electrodes are formed across the address electrodes on the first substrate. At least one pair of display electrodes are positioned opposite to each other in each of the discharge spaces. A first dielectric layer(17) is formed on the first substrate in order to cover the display electrodes. The barrier rib is formed with one or more kinds of smokeless glass compositions selected from a group including ZnO, BaO, B2O3, P2O5, Bi2O3, SiO2, and Al2O3, and one or more kinds of metal oxides selected from a group including MnO2, Mn2O3, NiO, RuO2, Cr2O3, FeO3, CoO, and Nd2O3.
