PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for measuring the shapes of cells on gravure plates and capable of automatically and accurately measuring the shapes of the cells, without being affected by irregular reflections, even if adjacent cells are connected to cause irregular reflections from the inner walls of the cells in the photographed images of the gravure plates. SOLUTION: The apparatus for measuring the shapes of cells on gravure plates is provided with an imaging means for acquiring photographed images by imaging a plurality of cells formed in the surface of a gravure plate; a correction means for acquiring corrected images by filtering and reducing light noise of the photographed images due to the state of properties of their surfaces; an enhancement means for acquiring enhanced images by performing Robert's processing which enhances parts having large gradient changes on the corrected images; an addition means for acquiring added images, by adding the pixel values of, corresponding pixels between the corrected images and the enhanced images; and a cell shape measuring means for measuring the shapes of cells on the basis of added images.
