<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information code reading device capable of surely reading an information code in a short period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The image of an information code is acquired with low resolution (S12), and whether or not the reading of the information code is possible is judged from the image whose resolution is low (S18), and when it is judged that the reading of the information code is possible (S18: Yes), decoding is operated from the image of the information code whose resolution is low (S20). In this case, decoding is operated from the image whose resolution is low so that it is possible to more quickly perform the reading of the information code than the case of acquiring the image whose resolution is high for decoding. On the other hand, when it is judged that decoding from the image of the information code whose resolution is low is impossible (S18: No), decoding is operated from the image of the information code whose resolution is high (S32).
