<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell composed by preventing deterioration of an electrolyte membrane and corrosion of a metal material by suppressing generation of hydrogen peroxide. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell includes: the electrolyte membrane; an oxidizer electrode formed on one surface of the electrolyte membrane and a fuel electrode formed on the other surface thereof; and separators arranged outside the pair of electrodes. The fuel cell is characterized in that a material forming parts of the electrolyte membrane, the oxidizer electrode, the fuel electrode and the separator where hydrogen contacts oxygen is a material facilitating a four-electron reduction reaction more than a two-electron reduction reaction of oxygen at least in a potential range of 0-1.1 V when hydrogen contacts oxygen and/or a material without having a catalyst action for a reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, except the catalyst component of the oxidizer electrode and the catalyst component of the fuel electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
