摘要 <p>Operating an internal combustion engine, comprises changing liquid fuel characteristics that are proximity to the engine by thermal fractionation and/or -separation and/or thermal and/or catalytic molecular conversion, and supplying the liquid fuel into a combustion chamber of the engine through injection valve (6) or injecting or mixing the fuel to the intake air after external evaporation of the fuel. Depending on operating point, an optimal combustion takes place in regard to efficiency, exhaust gas- and noise emission of the fuel. Operating an internal combustion engine, comprises changing characteristics of a liquid fuel that are proximity to the engine by thermal fractionation and/or- separation and/or thermal and/or catalytic molecular conversion, and supplying the liquid fuel into a combustion chamber of the engine through injection valve (6) or injecting or mixing the fuel to the intake air after external evaporation of the fuel. The qualities of a commercial fuel are changed by the thermal and/or the catalytic molecular conversion and/or thermal separation, dependent on speed and load of the momentary operating condition of the engine and dependent on applied fuel procedures. Depending on operating point, an optimal combustion takes place in regard to efficiency, exhaust gas- and noise emission of the fuel and the air supplied in the combustion chamber. The thermal molecular conversion of a component of the fuel takes place at 500[deg]C with high pressure. The molecular conversion takes place directly before the injection of the fuel by separation, isomerization, cyclization, dehydrogenation and hydrogenation. A homogeneous mixture is produced from supplied combustion air and the fuel, before the start of the combustion process. The injection of the fuel is carried out in direct- and homogenous manner. A catalyst for the molecular conversion is zeolites and/or noble metals, metals, catalytic compounds. The molecular conversion of the fuel takes place through a reformer unit (5), which consists of catalysts and/or equipment for thermal fractioning. Air and the fuel amount processed in the reformer unit are supplied to an evaporator, before introduction into a suction tube or the combustion chamber. An independent claim is included for device for operating the internal combustion engine.</p>
