PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-drive-life polymeric luminescent material which emits light of various colors covering from green to red. SOLUTION: What is provided is a polymeric luminescent material comprising a polymer containing structural units derived from an iridium complex represented by any one of formulae (1) to (6) (wherein X<SB>1</SB>to X<SB>7</SB>are each independently a substituent selected from the group consisting of -H, -OH, -R<SP>1</SP>, -OR<SP>2</SP>, -SR<SP>3</SP>, -OCOR<SP>4</SP>, -COOR<SP>5</SP>, -SiR<SP>6</SP>R<SP>7</SP>R<SP>8</SP>, -NH<SB>2</SB>, -NHR<SP>9</SP>, and -NR<SP>10</SP>R<SP>11</SP>; ring A is a divalent substituent derived from a nitrogen-containing cyclic compound, provided that the nitrogen atom is bonded to the iridium; and L is a bidentate ligand of a monovalent anion having a polymerizable functional group).
