HOLLOW SILICA MICROPARTICLE, COMPOSITION FOR TRANSPARENT COATING FORMATION CONTAINING THE SAME, AND SUBSTRATE WITH TRANSPARENT COATING

Hollow silica microparticles that inhibit whitening of transparent coating and realize exhibiting of excellent scratch resistance and adherence; and a process for producing the same. There are provided hollow silica microparticles of 5 to 300 nm average particle diameter as measured by a dynamic light scattering method and 50 to 1500 m<SUP>2</SUP>/g specific surface area having a cavity inside each outer shell, wherein a weight loss of 1.0 wt.% or more is exhibited in the temperature range from 200° to 500°C by thermogravimetry (TG). Further, these hollow silica microparticles exhibit a positive DTA peak in differential therm retention measurement (DTA) over the temperature range from 200° to 500°C.
