PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mass spectrometer capable of carrying out a measurement without generating any droplet at the tip of a needle of an ion source. SOLUTION: The mass spectrometer comprises: the needle for spraying a solvent which contains an object component to be analyzed, under the atmospheric pressure; an irradiating device for irradiating the tip section of the needle with light; a camera for photographing the tip section of the needle; a control device which applies an image processing to the image photographed by the camera, thereby detecting a droplet generated at the tip section of the needle; and a gas injecting device which injects a gas toward the tip section of the needle, based on a signal from the control device.
