The drive has a cam shaft (5), and a traction mechanism which runs over the wheels provided on a shaft. A regulating or control mechanism (15) is provided for continuous or intermittent detection of the torsion angle between the cam shaft and a crankshaft (3). The regulating or control mechanism controls an adjusting device (16), which compensates the torsion angle, and is arranged at the cam shaft or the crank shaft.
