PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush unit of a rotating electric machine for a vehicle which prevents a defective contact of a brush and poor power generation by reducing an amount of penetration of solder. SOLUTION: The brush unit 5 includes main brush bodies 51, 52 pressed by slip rings 37, 38 of a rotor 3; a pigtail 63 with flexibility which is connected to these main brush bodies; springs 64, 65 which press the main brush bodies 51, 52 onto the slip rings 37, 38; and a brush holder 60 in which the main brush bodies 51, 52, the pigtail 63 and the springs 64, 65 are housed, and which has terminals 61, 62 with an end of the pigtail 63 soldered thereto. The terminals 61, 62 include fitting holes into which the pigtail 63 is inserted, and inner diameters of the fitting holes are set to be≥1.3 times but less than 1.5 times of an outer diameter of the pigtail 63.
