The modality (2) has a positron emission tomography (PET) detector ring (4) connected with a PET image processing unit (22) for positron emission tomography. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) probe channel connected with MRI image processing unit for magnetic resonance tomography is arranged adjacent to the ring. A common display unit is provided to display PET and/or MRI images generated by respective PET and MRI image processing units.
