The invention relates to a method for signal processing, in particular for triggering an occupant protection system, and corresponding device, wherein working signals are formed from one or several sensor signals and said signals are correlated together in order to form a correlation-curve or spatial curve which are compared to the separating curves and/or separating surfaces. The invention relates, in particular, to a method for triggering an occupant protection system based on said type of signal processing method, wherein at least one first sensor signal (5.1), which is used to form one first working signal (5.3), is integrated (5.2), at least one second sensor signal (5.1), which is used to form at least one second working signal, is evaluated (6.3), preferably spectrally analysed and a triggering criterion for the occupant protection means is produced (7) from the first working signal and the at least one second working signal (7). The triggering criterion is produced by correlating (7) the first working signal with the at least one second working signal. A very precise triggering criterion which is adapted to the respective driving situation is formed by frequency analysis and subsequent correlation of at least two signals originating from, in particular, independent sources. |
