#CMT# #/CMT# The alternator has a reference voltage generating circuit (10) with an input (12) receiving a signal representing temperature of a battery or the alternator. A control unit (18) has an input (16) receiving a set signal delivered by an output (14) of the circuit, and an input (24) receiving the signal representing the temperature of the alternator. The control unit varies a mechanical power absorbed by the alternator based on the temperature of the alternator. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for transforming a mechanical energy provided by a driving engine of a motor vehicle into an electrical energy for charging a battery and for supplying an electrical network when the engine is in operation. Can also be utilized in a reversible manner for constituting an electrical motor drawing its energy from the battery for starting the vehicle (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The control unit varies the mechanical power absorbed by the alternator based on the temperature of the alternator, so that the mechanical power absorbed by the alternator remains in the same order of magnitude irrespective of the temperature, thus eliminating the need to dimension a belt for transmitting maximal mechanical energy, thus permitting the belt to slide against its driving pulley in order to avoid the generation of unpleasant noise. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The drawing shows an alternator. 10 : Reference voltage generating circuit 12 : Reference voltage generating circuit`s input 14 : Reference voltage generating circuit`s output 16, 20, 22, 24 : Control unit`s inputs 18 : Control unit.
|
