The awning (10) comprises a soft cover (16) to be released from and wound-up on a drum (14) by an electric drive accommodated inside the drum (14). The sheet (16) is held by lateral profiles (22) guided in rails (26) with stops (24) signaling the arrival at one of the two extreme positions in order to switch off the drive. For use a first initializing motion is performed in both directions and the maximal distance and the particular motor speed determined. After this process the drive is automatically switched off when the particular threshold value is reached. An independent claim is given for the sunshade arrangement used with the method.
