<p>The method involves discretely transmitting data packets via a wireless unidirectional communication link (16) by a transmission device (12) in the region of a pay parking area (14). The data packets are received by a user terminal arranged in a motor vehicle (10), which is parked in the parking area, and are further processed, where the data packets contain information such as user`s identification number, a sequence number, date, time and/or place. A display is activated by a special data packet.
