PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming a self-standing pouch similar in appearance and functions to a conventional horizontal self-standing pouch by the use of mechanical technologies of vertical formation, filling and sealing and a single packaging film sheet. SOLUTION: A vertical self-standing pouch that is a flexible packaging bag, and its manufacturing method are obtained by modifying existing vertical formation and a filling and packaging machine. The invention includes a step of manufacturing the vertical self-standing pouch of a single sheet of the packaging film to form a vertical gusset along one of side rims of a tube of the film before forming a lateral seal on the tube. The vertical gusset is formed by using a stationary tuck forming bar (106). The bar (106) is provided outside the packaging film tube and between two formation plates (104).
