PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device in which a cover can be easily opened or closed, and the durability of a tongue can be ensured. SOLUTION: An external terminal cover 18 is equipped with the cover main body 20 and the elastic tongues 22, and a casing is equipped with an opening 28 and a storing section 32. An external terminal 30 appears outside from the opening 28. The storing section 32 is formed adjacent to the opening 28. The tongues 22 are provided on the cover main body 20, protruding from its end and kept in the storing section 32 of the casing. The external terminal 30 is covered with the cover main body 20. Since the tongues 22 are elastic, the external terminal 30 can be exposed by turning the cover main body 20 in the thick-wise direction of the tongue 22, making the end of the cover main body 20 serve as a reference point. The tongue 22 is equipped with a bellows-shaped bent part 24 that is bent in the thick-wise direction of the tongue 22 and located at a position which the cover main body 20 comes into contact with the edge of the casing when the cover main body 20 is kept in an open state.
