<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser beam welding method which is featured by high welding strength, reduced strength dispersion, and no burr occurrence when two members constituted of a thermoplastic resin material are welded together and a laser beam welding apparatus for the method. <P>SOLUTION: The laser beam welding apparatus 1 which joins the contact surfaces 4 of a first member 2 constituted of a laser beam transmitting thermoplastic resin and a second member 3 constituted of a laser beam absorbing thermoplastic resin together by melting them by laser beams R is equipped with a casing 5 housing the first and second members, a vacuum pump 6 decompressing the casing, and a laser 10 melting at least one of the contact surfaces of the first and second members. The first member and the second member are brought into contact in a reduced pressure atmosphere, and the contact surfaces of the members are irradiated with the laser beams R from the side of the first laser beam transmitting member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
