Disclosed is an electrical storage device having high operating voltage and low capacity deterioration rate. Specifically disclosed is an electrical storage device comprising a positive electrode having at least a positive electrode active material layer and a positive electrode collector layer, a negative electrode, a separator and an organic electrolyte solution. This electrical storage device is characterized in that the positive electrode active material layer is mainly composed of a nonporous carbon having a specific surface area of 500 m²/g or less, and the material constituting the negative electrode is different from the positive electrode active material and mainly contains a material capable of adsorbing and desorbing alkali metal ions or alkaline earth metal ions.
