PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an air space small and lessen the reduction of a flow rate and a lift of a pump due to air. SOLUTION: The pump has an impeller 2, which is disposed in a pump chamber provided in a casing 1 and driven for rotation. A discharge port 12, which communicates with an outer peripheral portion of the pump chamber and rises vertically upwards, has a rectangular cross-section in which longer sides are in a direction orthogonal to a rotary shaft of the impeller. An inner wall situated outside as viewed from a rotation center of the impeller at the discharge port 12 is tangentially connected with an outer peripheral wall of the pump chamber of the casing and an inner wall situated inside at the discharge port is connected with the outer peripheral wall of the pump chamber in an upper space of the pump chamber. A volume of a portion serving as the air space in the pump chamber is small owing to the shape and disposition of the discharge port. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
