PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding machine and molding method which produces a molding with a more uniform plate thickness. SOLUTION: The molding machine 10 has a temperature control means which forms a temperature distribution prescribed on the basis of a time required from the start of pressurization/deformation to adhesion to a molding surface 20 in a sheet material 1 before the sheet material 1 is pressurized. A part of a long time required from the start of the pressurization/deformation to the adhesion to the molding surface 20 in the sheet material, in comparison with a part of a short time required to the adhesion, in the initial step of a pressurization/deformation process, forms the temperature distribution in the sheet material 1 to reduce the speed of elongation/deformation. In this way, the quantity of the elongation/deformation from the time of the start of the pressurization/deformation at the time of the adhesion to the molding surface 20 is made equivalent to that of the part of a short time required for the adhesion.
