PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power control method which reduces wasteful power consumption in a standby state, and which is effective, particularly, for a system with two-system memories. SOLUTION: In information processing equipment with the two-system memories, particularly, a printer, either of the memories is used for the execution of a system program; the other memory is used as a print buffer; and the print buffer required only during the formation of the image is immediately put into a power-saving state when the printer identifies a shift to the standby state, so that the wasteful power consumption in the standby state can be reduced. Additionally, the number of memory devices connected to two-system memory buses is identified, and the memory with a small number of devices is allocated as a memory for the execution of a system program, which is to be used under a normal operation state while the printer is on standby, so that lower power consumption can be realized.
