摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a plastic optical fiber (POF) having superior optical performance. <P>SOLUTION: In a polymerization vessel 29, a tapered hollow part (not shown) is formed. In the hollow part of the polymerization vessel 29, a core 32 is inserted having an outer side face inclined in nearly the same degree as the inner side face of the hollow part. In a gap (not shown) formed between the polymerization vessel 29 and the core 32, a first mixed solution 24(1) is injected and polymerized to form a first resin layer 22(1). The core 32 is raised a prescribed distance to form a gap 50(2) between it and the first resin layer 22(1), with a second mixed solution 24(2) injected in the gap 50(2) and polymerized. A core with a composite layered structure is formed by repeating the raising of the core and the injection and polymerization of the mixed solution 24(3-N). The core is mounted with a clad pipe to form a preform and, by drawing this preform, the POF with superior optical performance can be obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p>
