PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel material that satisfies all properties of platability, appearance, a crystal form, workability and weldability, which are required to a galvannealed steel material, with high productivity. SOLUTION: In a process for manufacturing the galvannealed steel material by the steps of heating and annealing a steel material in a non-oxidized atmosphere, immersing it in a Zn bath containing Al to plate it with Zn, and then heating it to make the plated film alloyed, this manufacturing method includes imparting the steel material before being annealed at least one element selected from Ni, Co, Cu and In and at least one element selected from Fe, Cr, Mo and Nb in an amount of 0.10 g/m<SP>2</SP>or more in total, while controlling a ratio of Ni, Co, Cu and In to the eight elements into 0.15 to 0.70, by electrolytic treatment.
