PROTOCOL CONVERSION SYSTEM IN MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN PACKET EXCHANGING NETWORK AND LINE EXCHANGING NETWORK

Provided is a protocol conversion device for converting protocols between a packet exchanging network and a line exchanging network in media communications through the packet exchanging network and the line exchanging network. The protocol conversion device includes a call connection unit and a protocol conversion unit. The call connection unit performs a call connection of media communications between the terminal on the packet exchanging network side and the terminal on the line exchanging network side. The protocol conversion unit analyzes the packet of a voice received from the packet exchanging network, thereby to specify an encoding bit rate of the voice data in the voice packet. Then, the protocol conversion unit specifies a multiplexing table to be used for multiplexing a frame on the line exchanging network, from the encoding bit rate. Moreover, the protocol conversion unit multiplexes the data in the payload of the packet received from the packet exchanging network, with the specified multiplexing table thereby to generate a frame, and transmits the frame to the line exchanging network.
