<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication system which easily authenticating an imaging device equipped with a communication function. <P>SOLUTION: The authentication system is equipped with: the imaging device: and an authentication device which communicates with the imaging device to authenticate it. The imaging device transmits defective pixel data indicating the position of a defective pixel on a photodetection surface of a solid-state imaging element that the imaging device is equipped with to the authentication device. The authentication device is equipped with: a storage means 109 for storing the imaging device and the defective pixel data of the imaging device while making them correspond to each other; a means 107a for receiving the defective pixel data of the imaging device from the imaging device; a comparing means 107b for outputting a result of comparison between the received defective pixel data and the defective pixel data stored in the storage means; and an authentication means 107c for authenticating the imaging device from which the defective pixel data are received according to the comparison result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
