PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display, on an image display device, image data read by an image reading apparatus in real time. SOLUTION: A network system 1 is configured by communicably connecting a multifunction machine 2 including a function as a scanner and a television 3 for displaying an image via a LAN 5. When operation is performed via a remote controller 7, at the side of the television 3, for transferring data read by a scanner section 15 of the multifunction machine 2, a control section 21 transmits a transfer command to the multifunction machine 2. When the transfer command is received at the side of the multifunction machine 2, a control section 11 makes the scanner section 15 start a scanner operation to read an image, data generated by the scanner section 15 are converted into a JPEG form at and the converted data are directly transmitted to a television monitor 6 via the LAN 5. When these data are received thereafter at the side of the television 3, the control section 21 displays a still picture based on the received data on a display section 23.
