PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an authenticated user to use an electronic signature of a group if the user is a member of the group, based on user authentication in a peripheral equipment device connectable to a network and carrying out processing related to image formation. SOLUTION: The peripheral equipment device has a group database for managing user identification information for identifying users belonging to the group correspondingly for every group identification information for identifying groups; a user authenticating means for authenticating the user based on authentication information acquired from the user; a group specifying means for specifying the group to which the authenticated user belongs by retrieving the user identification information indicated by the authentication information, from the group database when authentication is successful, and acquiring group identification information corresponding to the coincident user identification information; and a group signature imparting means for imparting the electronic signature using a private key of the specified group, to an electronic document.
