PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device with little light leakage in the region where an inorganic bank layer is placed. SOLUTION: An organic EL device 1 as the light emitting device comprises a pixel electrode 11 formed on a substrate 10, an inorganic bank layer 12 partially overlapped on the fringe of the pixel electrode 11, and an organic bank layer 13 placed on the inorganic bank layer 12. A hole transporting layer 14 and an organic light emitting layer 15 are prepared in a recessed part formed by the pixel electrode 11, the inorganic bank layer 12, and the organic bank layer 13. The inorganic bank layer 12 is a reflecting film of a dielectric multilayer film in which titanium oxide and silicon oxide are alternately laminated. The organic EL device 1 emits light at a light emitting part 32 due to light emission of the organic light emitting layer 15. Since the inorganic bank layer 12 reflects light from the organic light emitting layer 15 at a light shielding part 33, there are little light leakage. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
