PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure of a detection circuit which detects an ink storage condition in an ink tank by measuring a variation in impedance between electrodes due to the presence of ink when there are a plurality of ink storage portions in an ink supply system and electrodes having physically different shapes are provided in the ink storage sections. SOLUTION: By outputting detection clocks of frequencies set on the basis of electrical characteristics of a plurality of electrodes having physically different shapes to the electrodes, the common use of a main structure of a circuit which make judgment on the presence of ink becomes possible.
