<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical retardation plate incorporated type polarizing plate which contributes to improvement of a display characteristic of a liquid crystal display device and whose productivity is drastically improved; to provide the liquid crystal display device which has an enlarged viewing angle and in which efficiency of using backlight is improved; and to improve adhesion of the optical retardation plate which is effective as a λ/4 plate with optical anisotropic layers multilayered. <P>SOLUTION: The optical retardation plate is manufactured by forming at least two optical anisotropic layers containing at least one kind of liquid crystalline compound on a support, and photo-polymerizing and fixing at least the two optical anisotropic layers sequentially from the substrate side, wherein the rate of polymerization of the layer closest to the support side among the optical anisotropic layers lies in the range of 10 to 90%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
