The radiator (5) of the motor vehicle has an inflow side (Ans) and an outflow side (Abs) and the device has one or more probes adjacent to the outflow side for measuring the mass flow associated with the cooling channels that carry the cooling air. The flow rate of the cooling air is measured by the probes on the outflow side. An independent claim is also included for a method of determining the mass flow to a radiator for a motor vehicle internal combustion engine.
