PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system and a communication method for carrying out exchange of information safely without making a user conscious of secrecy of a communication path. SOLUTION: When information is transmitted or received between a client terminal and a device, whether the information should be secret at communication or not is determined at the client terminal (or at the device). If the secrecy is necessary, the information is transmitted after a certificate is acquired at the device (or at the client terminal) from a certification authority and the communication path is made secret.
