PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a serial data transmission method capable of more efficiently and simply transmitting data.

SOLUTION: The serial data transmission method includes the steps of: outputting a periodic reference clock signal to a data reception section through a clock signal line when a data transmission section transmits data; the data transmission section for attaching identification data for identifying a type of the transmission data to the transmission data to generate frame data in a prescribed number of bits and outputting the frame data as a unit to the data reception section through a data signal line synchronously with the reference clock signal; the data reception section for receiving the frame data transmitted through the data signal line on the basis of the reference clock signal transmitted through the clock signal line; and revising a timing of starting the processing of the transmission data included in the transmitted frame data in response to the type of the transmission data by referencing the identification data included in the received frame data.
