PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide more comfortable environment of air by detecting the amount of activity more accurately with simple constitution only with an infrared sensor, and making an addition to a reference ventilation amount according to the amount of activity to perform ventilation amount control in a ventilating device detecting the presence and amount of activity of a human body to control the amount of ventilation. SOLUTION: The ventilating device comprises the infrared sensor 1 detecting infrared light emitted from a person; an activity amount determining means 2 inputting induced voltage of the infrared sensor 1 and determining the amount of activity from the time variation of input induced voltage; and a ventilation amount control means 3 for computing the amount of addition to the reference ventilation amount from the determined amount of activity and controlling the ventilation amount. Since the amount of activity is directly determined from the variation of induced voltage of the infrared sensor 1, the amount of activity can be accurately detected with simple constitution without conversion into the presence/absence information of the person or computation of a moving distance to obtain an effect of attaining more inexpensive constitution.
