PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seam welding machine capable of easily controlling the welding current, preventing breakage of hermetic seal or a container body, and enhancing the reliability. SOLUTION: The seam welding machine comprises a pair of electrode rollers which are rotatable with the centers of rotation thereof being on the same line in the horizontal direction, and elevated/lowered in the vertical direction, and have inclined surfaces opposing each other. An electronic component consisting of a recessed container body for accommodating electronic elements and a metal cover for sealing its opening surface is an object to be welded. The pair of electrode rollers are abutted on one end side of a set of opposing ridges on the metal cover. The electrode rollers are pushed up and the metal cover is pressed. The electrode rollers are advanced from one end side of the metal cover to the other end side thereof and at the same time, the welding current runs between the electrode rollers to generate Joule heat, and the outer circumference of the metal cover is joined with an opening end face of the container body. The height of the electrode rollers in the abutted condition on the cover is detected to control the value of the welding current by the height of the electrode rollers. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
