<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red coloring composition for a color filter having high sensitivity and excellent patterning property, and to provide a color filter having a favorable shape of a filter segment. <P>SOLUTION: The composition contains a pigment carrier comprising a transparent resin, its precursor or their mixture, and an anthraquinone pigment dispersed in the pigment carrier, wherein the anthraquinone pigment shows such spectral characteristics that when a red composition prepared by dispersing the pigment in the pigment carrier and formed into a coating film showing 1% spectral transmittance at 565 nm wavelength, the film shows 13% or more spectral transmittance at 405 nm and 80% or more at 615 nm. The color filter has at least each one filter segment of red, blue and green, wherein at least one red filter segment is formed of the above red color composition for a color filter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
